Considered a "child prodigy" - Moukoko leaves Borussia Dortmund

Youssoufa Moukoko leaves Borussia Dortmund and joins Danish champions FC Copenhagen.

As BVB announced, the 20-year-old striker will undergo his medical with his new employer on Saturday. Moukoko has signed a contract in Copenhagen until 2030.

"Youssoufa is a very special player for us, who has played a key role in winning titles at the youth level and has shaped our youth development center for years with his professional attitude, even at a young age," said Dortmund's sporting director Lars Ricken. "After a loan spell that didn't bring the desired success, we wish him a successful new start in Copenhagen and a sporting environment that will allow him to fully realize his undoubtedly great potential."

Moukoko was most recently on loan to OGC Nice. The French first division club had not exercised a reported €18 million purchase option for the 2022 World Cup participant. Last season, Moukoko scored two goals and provided three assists in 22 competitive matches for Nice.

Moukoko joined Borussia Dortmund from FC St. Pauli's youth team in 2016. In 99 professional appearances, he scored 18 goals and assisted on eight more. At 16 years and 28 days old, he is the youngest Bundesliga goalscorer in history.

"Two hearts are beating in my chest right now. It's not easy to say goodbye to a club like BVB, because this club, my teammates, coaches, supporters, and the amazing fans will always mean a lot to me," Moukoko is quoted as saying in the BVB statement. "On the other hand, after a difficult year in France, it's time to hit the ground running in a new place with optimism and incredible ambition. FC Copenhagen offers me every opportunity to do just that."
